Major Itemization Patch

Today’s major update focuses on making items more interesting, more consistently powerful, and more accessible in the lategame.

Affix System Update

Previously items could roll between 1 and 4 modifiers from a rather large pool. This often resulted in items that were pretty boring, like a shield with just 3 random resistances on it that didn’t really help your build.

In this update, items are now split into Prefix and Suffix categories. An item with up to 2 modifiers can have one prefix and one suffix, and an item with up 3-4 modifiers can have two prefixes and two suffixes.

Modifiers like resistances, life regeneration, etc are in the Suffix category, while modifiers like increased life, movement speed, and damage are prefixes.

This new system causes useful items to now generate more frequently. You’ll find items with a healthy mix of defense and offensive boosts, which should help you tackle the higher difficulties more easily. And, more importantly, each individual item drop should be more useful and exciting!

Item Modifier Rebalance + Extension

Item modifiers at low levels were pretty weak. It’s not really interesting to find a pair of boots with 2 fire resistance.

This update focuses on making lower level item modifiers more interesting, and generally higher than before. Combined with the Prefix/Suffix system you should find better items worth paying attention to.

Additionally, items used to cap out in power around level 20. They now scale all the way to level 50, with modifiers at that level being exceptionally powerful.
