Centaur's Scary Forest Update


Gameplay

  • The "Scary Forest" region has been added to the west of the starting area
  • Each region is now tiered in difficulty. This tiering is reflected on the minimap
    • Difficulty 1: Grasslands (contains low tier dungeon)
    • Difficulty 2: Spooky Forest (contains low tier dungeon)
    • Difficulty 3: Shoreline
    • Difficulty 4: Scary Forest
    • Difficulty 5: Mountain Fortress (partially implemented)
  • Added the Centaur Knight world boss
    • Defeating this boss unlocks a high tier item drop
    • This boss is otherwise optional. Consider fighting him if you're confident and want to gain an edge
  • Added the "Beast" monster class. Only shows up in Difficulty 4+ areas
  • Each overworld region now has its own music
  • Added the Medicine Shop
  • Added "??? Area"
  • Armor can now be found in high tier loot
    • Multiple armor upgrades do stack
    • Your armor level reduces incoming damage by 1,  to a minimum of 1
      • For example, if you have 1 armor, a hit that does 3 damage will now do 2, but a hit that does 1 damage will still do 1
    • Your armor level is now shown on the inventory panel on the bottom of the status window
      • Green armor = 0 armor
      • Blue armor = 1 armor
      • Gold armor = 2 armor

Balance

  • Halved the speed of Hood Fang's projectile
  • Slightly increased drop rate of hearts
  • Some areas have slightly less dangerous monster spawns and formations

Bug Fixes

  • The hollowed out tree screen transition is now smoother
  • The player no longer uses physics simulation when moving, which should make knockbacks smoother in certain corner cases
  • Some map areas have had their metadata corrected so they display better on the minimap
